Dredging My A port

Monday - May 6, 2019 10:22

My A estuary is one of 6 estuaries in Quang Ngai province. This place has a long-standing seafood fishing industry, and is a place where about 300 boats of fishermen from Pho Quang commune and neighboring communes regularly enter and anchor. Over the years, My A Seaport has been regularly filled with sediment, fishing boats with a capacity of over 33 horsepower have not been able to enter or exit to catch seafood or anchor, greatly affecting production and the lives of fishermen. Every year, fishermen have to spend hundreds of millions of dong to dredge the entrance channel. My A estuary is also a place to drain flood waters downstream of the Thoa, Truong and Tra Cau rivers in Mo Duc and Duc Pho districts, but due to siltation, thousands of hectares of rice fields in the area are flooded for long periods of time every year, causing serious damage to agricultural production of hundreds of farming households in Mo Duc and Duc Pho districts. After the embankment was built in 2010, My A seaport continued to be silted up, hindering ships entering and exiting the port, so the People's Committee of Quang Ngai Province decided to dredge the seaport to ensure the operation of My A port.
