The wastewater treatment plant in the south of Nha Trang city belongs to category 02, phase 2 of the Nha Trang city environmental sanitation improvement project with a total expected investment of nearly 25 million USD, sponsored by the World Bank and counterpart capital of Khanh Hoa province.

According to the design, the plant is the place to receive and treat all wastewater from the central and southern areas of Nha Trang city with a design capacity of 40,000 m3 day/night and is expected to be upgraded to 60,000 m3 day/night by 2025. All wastewater here will be treated using deep oxidation ditch technology - an advanced wastewater treatment technology that has been widely applied in many countries around the world. The project is a very important item in the environmental sanitation improvement project of Nha Trang city. When the project comes into operation, it will stop the long-standing practice of directly discharging untreated wastewater into Nha Trang Bay.

Welcoming guests to the groundbreaking ceremony

On the morning of August 17, the Management Board of the Nha Trang City Environmental Sanitation Improvement Project, main contractor Kumho and subcontractor Ngu Thuong held a groundbreaking ceremony to build the "Southern Nha Trang City Wastewater Treatment Plant". Mr. Nguyen Chien Thang - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and leaders of departments, branches and Nha Trang city attended.

Basic equipment is ready for construction

Ngu Thuong Company will be responsible for all construction work for the project. The necessary machinery has also been deployed to enable construction immediately after the groundbreaking ceremony. Because the project is located on a large shrimp pond area, the project milestone handover was also carried out one week before the groundbreaking ceremony to take advantage of time right after the start of construction.

One month after the groundbreaking ceremony, the silhouette of rice fields and shrimp ponds in the brackish water area has gradually changed to the image of a construction site in the stage of clearing the ground.

One year

Management experience workshop presented by contractor NT-2.1.

In May 2013, the World Bank conducted an inspection of the entire Nha Trang City Environmental Sanitation Improvement project. The quality of the project and the professional working style of the Wastewater Treatment Plant project, package NT-2.1, have been highly appreciated by the World Bank and the Project Investor has been suggested to replicate it in other packages. On the occasion of one year of signing the contract, the Investor and contractor of package NT-2.1 organized a workshop to share experiences with contractors of other packages of the project. The People's Committee of Khanh Hoa - Nha Trang Province, the Department of Construction and other departments of Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa are also satisfied with the quality and progress of the project and request the contractor to continue the initial success until the project is completed.

The shrimp ponds are gradually being replaced after 10 months of work.

Although greatly affected by the bad weather of the rainy season in central Vietnam this year, according to information from the Investor during the inspection of the ENVIRONMENTAL SANITATION IMPROVEMENT PROJECT FOR COASTAL CITIES in the three cities of Nha Trang - Quy Nhon - Dong Hoi, NT-2.1 was assessed by the World Bank as a typical bidding package in terms of quality management and progress of the entire project.
