The Agriculture sector is entering the stage of strongly implementing the restructuring project through the value chain production model. And the value chain - success or not depends entirely on the links in the chain. If these links are discrete and lack of connection, it means that it will inhibit the development of the whole value chain.

One of those links is the mushroom industry. Vietnam is an agricultural country, rich in forestry potential due to the source of agricultural and forestry by-products (straw, straw, bagasse, corn stalks, corn cob...) reaching over 40 million tons/year, this is suitable source of material for growing mushrooms. Besides, the natural conditions (temperature, humidity...) of our country are very suitable for the cultivation of many species of mushrooms. Currently, mushroom farming is being promoted in localities throughout the country and is a significant source of income in the process of restructuring agricultural and rural crops. The above assessment has been specifically evaluated in the report (the current situation and solutions for mushroom development in the Northern provinces - Conference on mushroom development in the Northern provinces, Do Son - Hai Phong September 22, 2011).

In particular, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 439/QD-TTg dated April 16, 2012 approving the list of national products implemented since 2012 under the National Product Development Program to 2020 in which products Edible and medicinal mushrooms are among the nine products prioritized for development.

The use of agricultural by-products to cultivate mushrooms instead of sawdust is the optimal solution to utilize and improve the value of the entire agricultural chain. Every province in Vietnam can develop well.

Through the analysis and evaluation of the research and development, production and consumption of edible and medicinal mushrooms in the world and the current status of mushroom production in Vietnam. We can say that the mushroom industry is currently an extremely important link in Vietnam's agricultural industry. It is possible to bring a wider variety of agricultural products to the international market.
