Industrial parks, companies, factories, production facilities - business ... more well formed, which is pulled by a significant increase in the amount of waste, waste water daily. For years, waste water of tens of thousands of households, waste water f-rom the business, the service is still released into a common sewer network of the city, and then disc-harged into the canal that pollute environmental, health and affect the development of the community.

 
To elevate the city. Long Xuyen to Class I, at the same time to solve the problem of wastewater disc-harged directly into canals polluting the environment, the implementation of the construction of the drainage system and complete wastewater treatment for center of provinces is essential.
 
Separation of waste water f-rom rainwater and treated before being disc-harging the natural environment is the goal of the project.

Facing this issue, with the support of the Central Government, the Provincial People's Committee approved the investment project to build the city's drainage and wastewater treatment system. This is a key project of the city to meet one of the standards of a class I city, while contributing to reducing environmental pollution, creating better living conditions for people, and enhancing the sustainability of the city' infrastructure… Mr. Luong Van Ba, General Director of An Giang Power and Water Supply Joint Stock Company (project investor), said that the project has a total investment capital of more than 65.6 million USD (over 1,344.8 billion VND), of which Korean ODA is 46 million USD (943 billion VND), the central counterpart's capital is more than 19.6 million USD (over 401.8 billion VND). “The project will build a wastewater collection pipeline with a length of 69.2km, connecting to 24,392 households in the inner wards of the Long Xuyen city. All wastewater will be collected and brought to the northern wastewater treatment plant (Binh Duc 2 cluster, Binh Duc ward) with a scale of 10,000m3/day and the southern wastewater treatment station (Tay Khanh 5 cluster, My ward) Hoa), with a scale of 20,000m3/day. In addition, the project also builds a new stormwater drainage pipe with a length of 5,254km and renovates and cleans 10km existing sewers. After the project is completed, it will be able to separate wastewater to be treated, the sewer system will only drain rain water, limiting pollution to canals and canals.

Project including

·5km new rainwater drainage piping system added to the existing storm water drainage;

·Wastewater treatment plant in the North, with capacity of 10,000m³/day;

·Wastewater treatment plant in the South with capacity 20,000m³/day;

·HDPE pipe network for sewage collection (69,2km; 8 sewage pumping station) ...

The total project funding of $ 65.6 million, of which the Vietnam Government counterpart fund of 19.6 million USD, ODA loans by Korean Government $ 46 million, An Giang Power and Water Supply Joint Stock Company as an investor.

This project is funded by the Korean Government through the Export-Import Bank of Korea (Korea Eximbank).

The drainage and wastewater treatment system of Long Xuyen city is planned on an area of 132,946m2, with a capacity of 30,000 m3/day and night, connected to 24,392 households and 55,079m of service pipelines.
